Overview |
Riliphin (リリフィン, Ririfin) is Richeh's older brother and an apprentice witch.
Appearance[]
As a child, Riliphin had pale skin, light hair pulled back in a low ponytail, and blue eyes.
As an adult, Riliphin has longer hair and wears the uniform of Sage Beldaruit‘s apprentices. He ties his hair into a braid with one of Richeh's crystal ribbons. His arms are shown to be scarred from his former professor's abuse.
Personality[]
Riliphin is a reserved and quiet young man. He considers himself a failure for being unable to speak up when his sister Richeh was verbally abused by the professor of their mutual atelier. To Prince Eoleo, he states that he is afraid of large crowds.
History[]
Riliphin is first shown as a child who is affectionate to his younger sister: he encouraged her magical endeavors. At an unspecified point, he left Richeh to become an apprentice under an unnamed witch. Riliphin describes the unnamed witch, his first professor, as a controlling man who indulged in beating his students.
When Richeh joined Riliphin as an apprentice, the professor threatened Riliphin, promising him that if he didn't tell anyone about the abuse, he would spare Richeh. Because of this, Riliphin stayed silent about what was happening to him. While the professor is never shown physically abusing Richeh, he was verbally abusive and Richeh spoke up about this. This freed both siblings from their professor: Richeh joined Qifrey's atelier, while Riliphin began to study under Beldaruit.
Plot[]
After Qifrey and his apprentices returned to their atelier from meeting with Beldaruit, Riliphin talks to Beldaruit. The two share a conservation and when Beldaruit suggests that Riliphin could have met with Richeh, Riliphin confesses that he isn't able to face her after staying silent during Richeh's verbal abuse.
Later, during the Silver Night Festival, Riliphin begins to panic because Beldaruit left him alone. Nearby, Prince Eoleo notices him and asks Riliphin if he needs help after seeing his scars. Riliphin tells Eoleo about his fear of crowds and Eoleo reassures him. Eoleo asks Riliphin if he knows Tetia, and Riliphin responds in the affirmative. However, Riliphin is afraid to help Eoleo find Tetia as she might be with Richeh. Despite this fear, after noticing Richeh's magic, Riliphin uses the crystal ribbon he ties his hair with to find her. Richeh and Riliphin run to embrace each other and Riliphin realizes Richeh has forgiven him long ago.
Together, Prince Eoleo and Riliphin realize they can use Tetia's sand tent staff to provide privacy for the evacuees. Riliphin shares the idea with Queen Zayamaia and their idea is executed, indeed helping the evacuees. Queen Zayamaia praises Riliphin for his bravery, as does Richeh.
Relationships[]
Richeh[]
Riliphin and his younger sister were shown to be close in their childhood. Richeh was stated to have always followed her older brother around. After Richeh freed them from their abusive professor, they became estranged due to Riliphin's guilt. When they saw each other at the Silver Night Festival after a long time, Riliphin quickly forgot his guilt and hugged Richeh. After Riliphin shared his and Eoleo's idea with the queen, Richeh called Riliphin amazing.
Beldaruit[]
Riliphin began studying under Beldaruit after Richeh spoke up about being abused by their former professor. Riliphin is shown to worry about Beldaruit, saying that he should be more careful with his health. Beldaruit calls Riliphin brave for being able to come to the Silver Gardens.
